Colder Longer Than Usual added: JAN10
The first of this year the temperatures dropped very low and stayed
that way for a lot longer than it usually does. The Duck Pond is a well
known place in Batesville where families go to feed ducks and fish.
This pond froze over during this temperature drop and this hasn't
happened in over 10 years.

Winter Storm 2010 added: JAN10
At the end of January we got hit by more snow than we've gotten in the last 20 years.
Most winters we just see a little ice on the ground and maybe a few flurries of snow.
But not this year; some of the northern counties got close to a foot of snow while areas
around Batesville got over 6 inches. We enjoyed it though; by the looks of my friends
on Facebook and MySpace everyone got outside and made snow angels, snowmen,
and brought out the sleds we never get to use.
